Sophomore Kolton Gonnerman (Centerville, IA/Centerville) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week after helping the Tigers to a victory over No. 17 Crowder College.
Gonnerman got the game one start on the mound for the Tigers and after a leadoff double, settled in and controlled the Roughriders over the next six innings. Gonnerman struck out three batters through the first two innings and allowed just five baserunners over the first four frames.
Holding on to a 2-0 lead for the Tigers, Gonnerman sat the Roughriders down in order in both the fifth and sixth innings to keep nationally-ranked Crowder scoreless. Gonnerman finished the day with six innings pitched without allowing a run. The Missouri State-bound hurler struck out seven and did not issue a walk to pick up his fourth-career win.
Behind Gonnerman's series-opening victory, the Tigers were able to split with the Roughriders to improve to 7-5 on the year.
The Tigers make the trip down to Vero Beach, FL to take part in the Historic Dodgertown Invitational, set to begin on March 14.
