Tiger men fall in home opener

The Tiger Men's Basketball team took the floor in their opening game of the season and fell to Southeastern 89 to 86, despite a strong effort throughout the game.

The Tigers battled throughout the first half and trailed the Blackhawks 44 to 38 at the end of the half. In the second half, both teams came out showing the first half scoring was a feeling out period, with the Tigers outscoring the Blackhawks 48 to 45 in the second half.

The Tigers were led in scoring by Deon'ta Lagway who chipped in 23 points along with 3 assists. The MCC debuts of Ike Sheppard and Leonard Wilson helped the Tigers throughout the game with Sheppard finishing with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Wilson had 10 points on the night. MCC also got a major boost from the bench with Di'Ablo Stewart coming up big down the stretch and finishing with 14 points and David Roberts Jr. adding 10 points and 4 steals while locking up the Blackhawk's guards late in the game, before going down with an injury.

The Tigers hit the road and travel to Creston on Saturday, Jan. 23 to take on Southwestern at 3 pm.
