Tiger men 7 game winning streak ends at Iowa Lakes

Playing in their first game since Feb. 13, the MCC Men's Basketball team had their seven-game winning streak end by the #9 ranked Iowa Lakes Lakers in Estherville 95 to 73 on Saturday, Feb. 27th

Having to play without role players Di'Ablo Stewart, Zion Brown-Alvarez, and Leonard Wilson, the Tigers struggled to find the edge that defined their 7-game winning streak. MCC found themselves down at the half 44 to 33 and were outscored in the 2nd half 51 to 40 by the Lakers. The Tigers were able to look to others to score with the Lakers holding Deon'ta Lagway to single digit points.

The Tigers would be led in scoring by a returning David Roberts Jr. who was coming back from a finger injury and finished with 20 points. Sophomore Jaylin Scott scored 14 on the contest giving him his second highest scoring output this season. Lavarius Hampton made an impact scoring 13 points and saw extended minutes due to foul trouble for players. Lagway would do his damage in the first half scoring 8 points with the Lakers clamping down on him to hold him scoreless in the 2nd half. Playing through foul trouble Nuha Sagnia finished with 8 points and 4 blocks.

The Tigers welcome the #19 ranked Kirkwood Eagles to Marshalltown on Wednesday, March 3rd for a 7 pm tip.
