Tiger men net win over Ellsworth

A Back and forth contest would be the best way to describe the Wednesday, February 3rd game between the Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team and the Ellsworth Panthers.

Both teams came out wanting to prove something in the shortened Iowa Community College Athletic Conference basketball season and this game did not disappoint. The Tigers would find themselves in a hole early and worked to claw their way out to get the lead going into halftime, and from there the back and forth contest began. Each team found their stride from the 3-point line as the Tigers would finish shooting 31 percent, while the Panthers would convert 37 percent of their 3s. It was not until the Tigers decided to attack and get to the line, they were finally able to pull away and win 67 to 62.

Deon'ta Lagway, was the leader again for the Tigers finishing with 23 points to go along with 6 boards and 2 assists. The Tigers also got valuable minutes from starters Di'Ablo Stewart and Ike Sheppard with Stewart finishing with 10 points and 5 assists and Sheppard finishing with 8 points and 5 rebounds. MCC would also receive huge contributions from Zyan Gilmore and David Roberts Jr. who each finished with 7 points each off the bench in the win.

The Tigers are at home on Saturday, February 6th, when they host the 14th ranked Iowa Central Tritons at 3 pm.
