Tiger men lose 2 to make 3 straight losses

The Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team went 0-2 at home on the week falling to Kirkwood on Wednesday, March 3rd 60 to 59, and 84 to 70 on Saturday, March 6th to Southwestern. The losses pushed the Tigers to their second and third straight loss on the COVID shortened season.

It was a gritty contest against Kirkwood that pushed the limit on the Tigers as they found themselves down 35 to 27 at the half. MCC would scrap their way back into the contest before ultimately losing on a late Kirkwood three-point basket. Two missed free throws by MCC with 3.6 seconds in the game gave the win to the Eagles. The Tigers only had three players in double figures as Deon'ta Lagway finishing with 16 points and 13 rebounds and two late blocks in the game. David Roberts Jr. had 12 points and Nuha Sagnia with 10 points and 9 rebounds to go along with 3 assists.

Tough would be the best way to describe the Tiger Men's loss against Southwestern as it was the rubber match in which the Tigers won the opening meeting. It was a late game pull away by the Spartans with a three-point barrage in which they knocked down 14 on the contest. Roberts being inserted in the starting lineup was big for the Tigers as he scored 21 points while adding 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Lagway would score 13 points and add 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Sagnia scored 8 points in limited minutes and Di'Ablo Stewart added 7 points, and also added 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Tiger men travel to NIACC on Saturday, March 13th for a 3 pm tip-off in Mason City.
