Former Tiger Ryan Flack joins men's basketball coaching staff

The Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team has added former Tiger Ryan Flack to its coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Flack played for current MCC head coach Brynjar Brynjarsson for the 2007-08 season and was the team's student assistant for the Tigers the following season.

"We're excited to have Ryan back on campus," Brynjarsson stated. "Since leaving Marshalltown, he's gone on to do some great things in the coaching ranks at a variety of levels and we welcome his experience and knowledge into the game of basketball. He'll hit the ground running for us right away."

Flack's basketball experience took off following his time at MCC where he became the Student Manager at Iowa State University, focusing on video editing and scouting reports among an array of other duties. Flack took over as the assistant coach and head JV men's coach at Grand View University from 2012-13.

Flack moved on as the graduate assistant coach for two seasons at South Dakota State University where he was active in all facets of the program, including coordinating summer camps, academic monitoring, team travel, and video analysis. The team advanced to the National Invitational Tournament where they upset top-seeded Colorado State. Flack also worked as a liaison with USA Sports for the international tour to Brazil in 2014.

Prior to being hired at MCC for this season, Flack spent the 2015-16 season with John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL as the assistant men's basketball coach.

Flack received his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Upper Iowa University and a Master of Education in Counseling & Human Resource Development with an emphasis in Student Affairs Administration from South Dakota State.

A native of Nevada, IA, Flack lives in Marshalltown with his wife, Carlee, and his daughter, Quinn.
