Council Bluffs, IA—Shooting woes hindered the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team on Saturday night as the Tigers fell on the road to Iowa Western Community College, 90-71 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
Freshman Mohamed Thiam (Dekar, Senegal/Canarias) powered the Tigers with a first half double-double, but MCC trailed 40-28 at inetermission. The Tigers never got back within single digits as the Reivers swept the regular season series. MCC falls to 16-10 overall and 2-4 in ICCAC play while the Reivers improve to 20-6 overall and 4-2 in the ICCAC.
Thiam finished the night with 15 points and 14 rebounds for his 15th double-double of the season. Sophomore Brandon Simmons (Harlem, NY/Teaneck) added 16 points and seven rebounds while Jamir Coleman (San Antonio, TX/Pro Vision) chipped in 14 points.
The Tigers travel to Indian Hills Community College on Feb. 18 for an ICCAC showdown at the Hellyer Center against the first-place Warriors.
