HCC William R. Bear Classic Bracket
Freeport, IL—The Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team dropped a 76-71 game to Don Bosco Prep on the opening night of the 48th annual William R. Bear Classic hosted by Highland Community College. The Tigers fall to 9-4 on the year.
MCC fell behind 41-28 at halftime and could not catch up to Don Bosco Prep in the second half. The Tigers head to the consolation bracket Saturday morning to take on Bryant & Stratton College (WI) at 9:00 AM.
Sophomore Brandon Simmons (Harlem, NY/Teaneck) scored nine points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds for the Tigers. Mohamed Thiam (Dekar, Senegal/Canarias) and Souf Mensah (Nantes, France/Canarias) added 15 points each for MCC while Berk Karadan (Izmir, Turkey/Izmir Dubeyde) chipped in 11 points off of the bench.
MCC outrebounded Don Bosco 50-38, but committed 18 turnovers to fall on the road.
