Tigers Struggle Against Warriors

The MCC softball team hit the field on Friday afternoon in Marshalltown, hosting the Warriors of Indian Hills Community College. The Tigers struggled all day long in the cold and wind, falling to the Warriors in both games.

Game One: Lost 21-3

Almost nothing went right for the Tigers after the first inning in game one. The first inning started with the Warriors scoring three runs before freshman Chasity Jordan and sophomore Shaena Robinson make their way around the bases  to keep the game within one. Once the Warriors took the field in the second, the Tigers would not be able to quiet down their bats, recording 17 hits and scoring 18 runs in the final 4 innings to close out game one. The Tigers recorded six hits in game one, led by Anika Matsumoto who went 2-2 at the plate and Chasity Jordan who went 1-2 with an RBI.

Game Two: Lost 17-5

Game two was more of the same for the Tigers, as the team had a hard time making contact at the plate while the Warriors continued to see success. Shaena Robinson provided the lone bright spot for the Tigers, blasting a 2-run home run over the center field fence in the fifth inning. The game quickly got out of hand, as the Warriors plated five runs in the first inning. The warriors recorded 21 hits in game two with freshman Katelyn Cantu in the circle. Cantu faced 36 batters, giving up 17 earned runs and four home runs.
