The Marshalltown Community College athletic department hosted a birthday party last Friday night in the Student Activity Center and Tiger Room. Jackson Bidwell along with some of his friends and family celebrated his 8th birthday at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel Basketball Classic.
"This opportunity was brought to us by Jackson's parents. It was a great chance for us to partner with our community, expose kids to college basketball and meet our men's basketball team in person," stated Dan Huntley, Director of Athletics. "We have a great venue to watch games, especially from upstairs in the Student Activity Center (SAC) and Tiger Room. We have many businesses that will rent the Tiger Room, have a meal catered and watch our games from above. We are appreciative of those businesses and now have found another way to bring our community to our campus and share in the excitement of Tiger Athletics."
The men's basketball team helped Jackson celebrate his birthday by joining the party and singing happy birthday. The team presented all the kids with signed team posters and Tiger basketballs. At halftime, the party moved to the court for some added fun with the Tiger basketball team.
Jill Bidwell, Jackson's mother, passed on the photos and said, "We want to thank the players for
being such great role models to the boys; they probably have no idea how big of an impression they made on these 2nd graders."
