Tigers torch Graceland JV at home

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team regrouped after a tough home loss on Saturday night to find its shooting touch in a 92-54 victory over Graceland JV at home Monday night. The Tigers improve to 16-11 on the year.

Guilherme Verardo (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Esporte Clube Pinheiros) led the Tigers with 17 points and Nick Cross (Beverly, MA/Beverly) added 15 as the two sharpshooters combined to knock down nine three-point shots in the win. Christal Malalu (Eindhoven, Netherlands/Willem Koning I) recorded his second-career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

All 13 players scored for the Tigers as MCC shot 52.2 percent from the floor, the team's best shooting mark in a single game since Dec. 11. Souf Mensah (Nantes, France/CCI) scored nine points to go along with seven assists. Amir Maddred (Camden, NJ/Camden) connected on all four of his shots to finish with eight points and Reggie Gradwell (Marshalltown, IA/West Marshall) tacked on seven points.

The Tigers outrebounded the opposition 56-31, the team's third-most rebounds in a game this year. Vincent Lasley (Tama, IA/South Tama) came off of the bench to grab nine rebounds and Tyler Miller (Louisville, KY/22ft Academy) added six rebounds and six assists.

MCC returns to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play with a 7:00 PM road date at Northeast Community College on Saturday night. The Tigers topped the Hawks 71-58 on Jan. 23 at the Student Activity Center. Both teams are currently 1-4 in league play.
