Tigers fall at home to No. 5 Indian Hills

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team fell to No. 5 Indian Hills Community College 86-56 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play at the Student Activity Center on Saturday night. Souf Mensah (Nantes, France/CCI) led the Tigers with 15 points.

The Tigers trailed by just two, 8-6 in the first five minutes of play, but the Warriors put together a 20-5 run to pull away. Indian Hills took a commanding 46-29 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Mensah added eight rebounds and six assists along with three steals in the loss. Joining Mensah in double-figures was Reggie Gradwell (Marshalltown, IA/West Marshall) with 13. The freshman knocked down three three-point shots on the night.

Christal Malalu (Eindhoven, Netherlands/Willem Koning I) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and added seven points for MCC. Tyler Miller (Louisville, KY/22ft Academy) scored eight points and Paulius Sakinis (Klaipeda, Lithuania) scored seven. Denzel Ubiaro (London, England/City of London Academy) rounded out the scoring with six points.

Indian Hills shot 51.7 from the floor on the night compared to just 24.7 percent for the Tigers.

Saturday night's game was part of House of Compassion Night, with half of all ticket sales donated to the local Marshalltown House of Compassion. More than $1,400 was raised to support the cause.

The Tigers take on Graceland JV at 5:00 PM at Feb. 8 as part of Jam the Gym night. The MCC Women's Basketball team plays Central JV at 7:00 PM. All high school students receive free admission to the game and three $500 scholarships to MCC will be raffled off.
