Lasley, Miller lead MCC to 82-72 win at Quakerdale

New Providence, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team held off Quakerdale Prep Academy with an 82-72 road win to improve to 6-1 on the year. Vincent Lasley (Tama, IA/South Tama) led the Tigers with a double-double with 16 points and tied a career-high with 13 rebounds.

The Tigers held a convincing 49-25 lead at halftime, but the Eagles stormed back to outscore the Tigers 47-33 in the final 20 minutes. Sophomore Tyler Miller (Louisville, KY/22ft Academy) scored nine points in the second half to finish the night with a career-high 14.

Lasley pulled down 12 defensive rebounds to tie his personal-best mark on the glass as the Tigers grabbed 36 rebounds as a team. Miller contributed to that total with nine, also a career-high for the guard, to go along with three assists and two steals.

Sophomores Paulius Sakinis (Klaipeda, Lithuania/Lourdes Central Catholic) and Christal Malalu (Eindhoven, Netherlands/Koning Willem I) each tallied 11 points for the Tigers.

MCC collected a season-high 11 steals in the win as five players grabbed two thefts on the night.

The Tigers travel to Little Priest Tribal College for a nonconference match at 3:00 PM on Nov. 22.
