Freshman Rafael Pereira (Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Vergilio Ferreira) landed his third Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Goalie of the Week honor prior to Tuesday's game against Iowa Lakes Community College.
Pereira was recognized for his efforts during the week of Oct. 12-18. The freshman posted back-to-back shutouts, a 2-0 win over Iowa Central Community College on Oct. 14 and a 0-0 double overtime tie against No. 12 Iowa Western Community College on Oct. 17. Pereira has shutout both teams twice this season.
Prior to Tuesday's game against the Lakers, Pereira held a goals against average of 0.38. Despite allowing one goal on Tuesday, the freshman still leads the nation with a 0.41 goals against average. Pereira is also tied for first nationally with eight shutouts and ranks second with 15 wins, seventh with 1520:10 minutes played, and 14th with a .851 save percentage.
Pereira was previously named the ICCAC Goalie of the Week on Sept. 14 and Sept. 9.
The Tigers wrap up the 2015 regular season at home against North Iowa Area Community College at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
