The #11 Marshalltown men's soccer team traveled to Spencer Iowa Saturday afternoon to take on the Lakers of Iowa Lakes Community College. In a tough battle, the Tigers fell short against the Lakers as they were outscored 2-4. The Tigers started the game with a goal in the first two minutes when Bruno Osorio found the net with an assist by Rafael Vacas. Rafael Vacas is leading the Tigers in assist as he now has eight on the season. After the first goal, the rest of the day did not fare well for the Tigers. The Tigers gave up two quick goals when Abel Gebrekiros and Craig Barker each found the goal in the thirteenth and fourteenth minutes. The Lakers were able to extend their lead in the second half when Antonio Hernandez was able to get passed Juan Gonzalez to find the net in the fifty-fifth minute. Leading 3-1 the Lakers stayed on the offensive and found the net yet again in the eighty-second minute to lead 4-1. In the final minutes of play, the Lakers would score again when Miguel Munoz found the net.
The Tigers drop their first game of the season and move to 6-1 and 3-1 in the conference. The Tigers will be back in action on Monday when they host Mt. Mercy JV at 4:00 PM on the Marshalltown Community College campus.
