Two Tigers Headed to Concordia University Nebraska

A pair of Tiger soccer players have decided to take their talents to Concordia University in the fall as Andre Santos and Roger De la Villa both signed to play soccer for the Bulldogs. Both players were two-year starts for the Tiger soccer team with Andre Santos playing in 34 games with 27 starts and Roger De la Villa playing in 35 games with 24 starts. The two played on opposite ends of the field as Santos was a stand out on defense and De la Villa was a contributing member of the high scoring group of forwards for the Tigers.

"Roger is also another player who had an immediate impact at MCC," stated Head Coach Rafael Martinez. "He is one of the smartest soccer players we have had in this program; he knows what to do and when to do it, and I am sure he will make a big impact at Concordia. Andre is one of the most consistent players we have had these past two years. He has been an anchor of our defense since his debut with an MCC uniform. Andre was someone we could always count on to perform when it mattered. He has also been a positive influence to so many around him, so he will be greatly missed."

The former Tigers will be entering a successful program under Head Coach Jason Weides who enters his eleventh season at the helm. The Bulldogs have went 97-78-18 in his tenure, finishing 16-3-1 last season after finishing Runner-up in the Great Plains Athletic Conference the last two years and won the conference title in 2015.

"I'm grateful for everything that MCC was able to provide to us and for Coach Rafa and Coach Chris for helping with my development," stated Santos. "Playing at MCC allowed us to meet great people friends and I'm excited about going to Concordia with a friend I met here."

De la Villa also commented on his time at MCC, stating "Playing here was a great experience, we all set goals to move on after our two years and we have been able to do that with the help of our coaches and the people here on campus."
