The Marshalltown Community College men's and women's basketball teams open up postseason play this week in the NJCAA Division I Region XI Tournament with both teams playing on the road.

The men's team received the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 seed Southeastern Community College for the opening round at 7:00 PM on Monday night. The third-seeded women will travel to Council Bluffs to take on second-seeded Iowa Western Community College at 6:00 PM on Wednesday night.

The men dropped both regular season games to the Blackhawks (23-7, 3-5), including a road contest on Jan. 10. Mike Rodriguez (Boston, MA/Christian Redemption Academy), averaging a conference-best 22.7 points per game will look to carry the Tigers to the first-round upset.

Indian Hills Community College received the top overall seed in the men's field while Northeast Community College and Iowa Western Community College rounded out the top three.

The women have already defeated the Reivers (27-3, 2-2) once this year, giving then-No. 4 ranked Iowa Western their first loss of the season on Jan. 17 as the Tigers upended the Reivers 59-41 at the Student Activity Center. Iowa Western evened up the regular season series with a 64-45 win on their home court.

Jasmin Howe has paced the Tigers throughout the regular season, and will look to carry her conference-best scoring average into the postseason.

Northeast Community College finished atop the three-team women's league with a 3-1 conference mark and a 25-5 overall record.
