Offense stymied for second straight day at No. 15 Iowa Western

Council Bluffs, IA—For the second straight day the Marshalltown Community College baseball team failed to produce an offensive threat against Iowa Western Community College. The Tigers dropped a pair of games to the No. 15 ranked Reivers 11-2 and 19-0.

Eric Kent (Fort Madison, IA/Fort Madison) provided the only two runs of the afternoon for the Tigers with his first home run of his MCC career, a two-run shot in the fourth inning. The home run, which scored Bennett Mann (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) as well, cut the Reivers lead to 5-2 at the time, but a pair of back-to-back three run innings from Iowa Western extended the team's lead and put the game out of reach.

Mann tallied two hits in the game for the Tigers, including a single to lead off the sixth inning but the remainder of the MCC lineup struggled to get things going. Alex McCune (Johnston, IA/Johnston) took the loss for MCC.

The Reivers scored at least three runs in each of the first four innings, including eight in the fourth inning to quiet any chance of the Tigers picking up a win on the weekend.

After dropping all four games to the Reivers this weekend, MCC falls to 8-16 overall on the year.

The Tigers travel to Des Moines Area Community College for a pair of games on April 1.
