Marshalltown Community College sophomore Daryl Blaskovich signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Lindsey Wilson College (KY) on Monday morning, committing to play for head coach Jonathan Burton and the Blue Raiders in 2014-15.

Blaskovich helped guide the MCC baseball team to back-to-back 20-plus win seasons in his two years on campus. The team's primary shortstop, Blaskovich has batted .319 during his career as a Tiger, collecting 95 total hits, including six home runs and 19 doubles. Blaskovich currently leads the Tiger offense with a .303 average this year while scoring 25 runs and driving in 22 more in 2014.

On the thoughts of playing at a prominent NAIA program, Blaskovich embraced the opportunity. "I'm ecstatic," the sophomore stated. "I'm really looking forward to moving on to the next level and having the chance to play for a very strong program."

Under Burton, the Blue Raiders have won 114 games over the last three seasons, including a program-record 45 in 2013. Lindsey Wilson plays in the Mid-South Conference.

MCC head coach Rich Grife expanded on Blaskovich's importance to the program over the last two years. "Overall, he's been one of the top players we've ever had in this program. He's battled through some tough injuries, but never shut it down, he keeps playing at the top level." Blaskovich has led the Tigers in at bats in both his years at MCC.

"Daryl is a very talented young man. He can hit at any level and will do just fine wherever he goes."

Blaskovich and the Tigers head to the Region XI Division I Baseball Tournament as the No. 3 seed next weekend and will take on No. 2 seed Iowa Western Community College at 11:00 AM at Pat Daugherty Field in Centerville, IA.
