Baseball inks Waterloo East's John Magnuson

Waterloo East High School senior John Magnuson signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Marshalltown Community College Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. Magnuson is a primary infielder who has contributed on the mound for the Trojans.

In three seasons for the Trojans, Magnuson has started 116 career games, including 90 consecutive starts. He has amassed 116 career hits, and posted a career-best .350 batting average as a junior.

"John has a great baseball mind," said assistant coach Chris Beall. "He comes from a strong baseball lineage and knows the game inside and out. He'll be able to contribute in a number of ways for us when he gets on campus."

Wednesday's signing makes four National Letters of Intent the Tigers have received in this year's recruiting class.
