The annual Oktemberfest celebration in the city of Marshalltown opened up Thursday night and the Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team pledged another year of fun and entertainment for the local youth.

The Tigers make it a point each year to help open up the Oktemberfest festivities. This year the team took to downtown Marshalltown and interacted with the local youth through basketball activities.

MCC sophomore Danny Mozee, a native of Louisville, KY volunteered at Oktemberfest for the second consecutive year with the Tigers. "It was great to get out there and see some familiar faces from last year," Mozee stated. "The kids really have a great time and you can tell they enjoyed shooting some hoops with us. Being from out of town, it's good to connect with the community and get to know the people that support us throughout the year."

Marshalltown native Aaron Hauser, a freshman on the team also spent time Thursday afternoon in the streets of downtown Marshalltown with the local youth. "Everyone had a great time, from the team to all of the kids that were there. It's great having a mix of local and out of state guys on our team helping out at Oktemberfest. They get to see what the festival is really about and what it means to our town."

Mozee, a Student Ambassador at MCC, sat out last season with an injury but is eager to get back on the court for the Tigers. Hauser was a standout basketball player for the Marshalltown High School Bobcats who will begin his first season on the hardwoods at MCC.

The 2016 season is quickly approaching. Stay tuned as the schedule is announced in the coming days.
