Loralei Siliga earns player of the week honors

Freshman Loralei Siliga (Euless, TX/San Leandro) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Tigers to a pair of victories last week.

Siliga averaged 12.6 points and 7.3 rebounds over the course of three games for MCC last week. In the team's first win of the year, a 61-57 victory over Iowa Central, Siliga posted a career-high 16 points along with eight rebounds. The freshman followed up her performance with her first-career double-double, scoring 14 points while pulling down 10 rebounds in a 74-41 win over William Penn JV. Siliga added eight points in a loss to Kansas City Kansas Community College on Saturday night.

Siliga's 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds this year currently lead the Tigers. The freshman also leads MCC with 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

MCC is back in action at home against Ellsworth Community College at 5:00 PM on Tuesday night as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
