Tigers fall on the road to Southeastern

Keokuk, IA—The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team fell on the road to Southeastern Community College 69-51 on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Alyssa Roth (Clinton, IA/Northeast) led the Tigers with 14 points.

The Blackhawks took an early advantage over the Tigers with a 20-11 lead after the first quarter. MCC fought back in the second frame, but trailed 37-25 at halftime. The Tiger offense stumbled in the third quarter, putting together just eight points. Despite outscoring Southeastern 18-15 in the final frame, MCC dropped its third-straight game.

Roth recorded her sixth consecutive game in double-figures after shooting 5-7 from the floor. The freshman connected on two of her three three-point attempts and also pulled down five rebounds and grabbed two steals.

Loralei Siliga (Euless, TX/San Leandro) added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds in the loss while Claudia Morente (Girona, Spain/Institut Juame Vicens Vives) dished out six assists for the Tigers.

Six different Tigers hit a three-point shot on Saturday, giving MCC a total of eight makes from beyond the arc. The Tigers have hit at least six threes in all but one game this season.

MCC heads to Black Hawk College on Nov. 29 for a 5:30 PM matchup.
