Slow start derails men's basketball at No. 17 Iowa Western

Council Bluffs, IA—A 21-point halftime deficit was too much to overcome for the Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team as the Tigers fell on the road to No. 17 Iowa Western Community College 95-70. Amir Maddred (Camden, NJ/Camden) and Jamil Maddred ( Camden, NJ/Camden) each scored 15 points for the Tigers.

Despite a quick start from the Tigers to open the second half, Iowa Western regained control of the contest and built a 20-point lead that never dwindled as the Reivers defeated MCC for the second time this season.

Tyler Miller (Louisville, KY/22ft Academy) scored four points for the Tigers and added six assists and four steals. The sophomore finished the regular season ranked second in the league with 1.8 steals per contest while his 4.2 assists per game ranked fourth. Vincent Lasley (Tama, IA/South Tama) contributed nine points with a team-high seven rebounds to finish the season with a conference-best 7.6 rebounds per contest.

The Tigers end the regular season with a 17-13 record and a 2-6 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) record. Iowa Western finishes the year with a 24-5 overall record, including a 5-3 mark in league play.
