Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball player Vincent Lasley (Tama, IA/South Tama) will continue his career at Slippery Rock University after signing a National Letter of Intent on Friday morning.

Lasley, who played two seasons at MCC from 2014-2016, joins fellow teammate Amir Maddred (Camden, NJ/Camden) to sign with Slippery Rock for next season. The two will team up with former Tiger Merdic Green, a member of the Tigers from 2013-2015.

MCC head coach Brynjar Brynjarsson commended Lasley for his commitment and relentless effort over the last two years at MCC. "Vinny has earned everything through hard work from day one with us," Brynjarsson stated. "From a guy that showed up asking to play basketball as a freshman to starting almost every game as a sophomore, Vinny is a testament to the type of guy every coach wants on their team."

Lasley helped the Tigers win 37 games over the past two seasons, playing in 58 of the team's 64 games. As a sophomore, Lasley started 26 contests and was named to the NJCAA Division I All-Region XI Honorable Mention team. Lasley averaged 8.6 points per game and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game in his final season at MCC.

Lasley pointed to the success of Slippery Rock along with a few recognizable faces on next year's team as primary factors into his decision. "Slippery Rock has a strong program and the school seemed like a good fit. Having Amir and Merdic there helped my decision too."

"MCC was a great experience for me," Lasley stated in regards to his tenure as a Tiger. "It really opened up my eyes to what I could do playing-wise. It's a good place to start your college career. Academically, the teachers were all great and were always there to help me."

The Rock has reached the NCAA Division II Tournament three times since the 2010-11 season and has not had a losing season over the last eight years. Some of that success can be attributed to former MCC Men's Basketball players. Former Tigers Jamal Gatali, Matej Delinac, and Luiz Santos have contributed on the court for the Rock. Gatali finished his career at Slippery Rock this past season, having played in 54 career games, starting 52.
