Former Marshalltown Community College men's soccer All-American Javi Lopez helped lead the Lynn University Fighting Knights win the NCAA Division II National Championship over top-ranked Charleston 3-2 on Saturday. The title is the second soccer championship for Lynn all time.

Lopez started all three games in the national tournament, playing a majority of the 270 minutes of action. The senior defender helped Lynn post a 19-1-1 record on the year, starting all 21 games.

Lopez finishes his career as a Fighting Knight having started all 39 games in his career.

At Marshalltown, Lopez was named a 2012 NSCAA First-Team All-American and helped the Tigers advance to the NJCAA Tournament.

Along with Lopez's national championship, two former Tigers and teammates of Lopez, Bruno Liozzi and Joao Oliveira, won the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I title in 2013.
