MCC Softball lands Olivia Hubert of Waterloo East

Olivia Hubert of Waterloo East High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Marshalltown Community College Softball team for the 2016-17 season.

Hubert currently plays for the Trojans and head coach Gene Laughlin. MCC head coach Garland Shirley expressed the guidance Hubert has received under coach Laughlin throughout her career. "I have known Coach Laughlin for a few years and he is one of the most passionate and dedicated coaches in the state," Shirley said. "He produces solid players who understand the value of team and work hard for everything they get. Olivia is tough, aggressive, and fits what we are looking for in athleticism and ability."

Hubert provides an array of skills that can translate across the diamond for the Tigers. "My coach told me to never say 'can't'," Hubert stated. "It really made me believe in my dreams of playing college softball and never give up. I will be a solid utility player and will play wherever the team and my coaches need me."

Olivia is the daughter of Nellie and Tom Hubert.

With the addition of Hubert, the Tigers have now signed seven players for the 2016-17 season.
