A successful spring trip to Florida for the Marshalltown Community College Softball team has landed a pair of weekly accolades for individual players for the week of March 14-20. Sophomore Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Hitter of the Week while freshman Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) was tabbed the ICCAC Pitcher of the Week.

Ghee helped lead the Tigers (13-4) to a 5-1 record last week and a 9-4 record overall in Florida. Ghee batted a team-best .476 (10-21) at the plate, including a 4-4 performance with three RBI in an 8-5 win over Cuyahoga Community College. During the week, Ghee totaled nine RBI and six runs scored. Ghee was also flawless in centerfield, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage on the week.

On the year, ghee leads the Tigers with a .462 batting average, which ranks second in the ICCAC. Ghee has reached base in all 17 games for the Tigers this season and has hit safely in 13 of them.

In the circle for the Tigers, Carter posted a 3-0 record during the week and added a save. Carter posted a complete game shutout in a 4-0 win over Triton College on March 15 while striking out a career-high seven batters. The freshman also added wins against Dakota County Technical College and Cuyahoga Community College. Carter earned a save after tossing two innings of relief, allowing just one base hit in a 6-4 win over Anderson University JV in the final game of the team's trip.

Carter currently ranks third in the conference with a 2.58 earned run average in 40.2 innings pitched. The freshman has not lost a game to start her career, jumping out a 5-0 mark in the circle.

Carter also earned ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors during the volleyball season for the Tigers.

The Tigers open up ICCAC play against Iowa Western Community College (15-14) with a doubleheader at 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon. MCC also hosts conference-foe Indian Hills Community College with a 1:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday.
