Taylor Anderson earns ICCAC Hitter of the Week honors

Sophomore Taylor Anderson (San Antonio, TX/Churchill) helped the Marshalltown Community College Softball team get off to a strong start in 2016 and has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Hitter of the Week. The Tigers went 2-0 at the Early Bird Tournament in Rochester, MN on Friday night.

Anderson went 4-7 over the course of the two games, with three of those hits going for extra bases. The sophomore drove in six runs and scored five more as the Tigers needed just five innings in each game to pick up their first two wins of the year.

In a 14-2 rout over Madison College in the season-opener, Anderson smashed a two-run double to help the Tigers pull away from the WolfPack in the fourth inning. Anderson finished the game with three RBI and a pair of runs.

In the nightcap, Anderson was a perfect 3-3 at the dish as MCC dropped Rochester Community and Technical College 9-1. The sophomore connected on her first home run as a Tiger in the first inning and added a run-scoring double in the third and an RBI single in the fourth. Anderson scored three runs in the victory as well.

The Tigers return to play on March 11 with a trip to Clermont, FL for a 13-game slate.
