Clermont, FL—The Marshalltown Community College Softball team rallied for a pair of wins at THE Spring Games on Saturday, defeating Spoon River College 8-5 and Triton College 7-6. The Tigers are now 6-1 on the year.

Paige Taylor (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Terry Fox) entered the game with one out in the first inning with the Tigers trailing 5-0 and baffled the Snappers the rest of the way, allowing just three hits and striking out 12 batters in the win. MCC chipped away throughout the game, scoring three runs in the second inning and one more in the fourth.

MCC broke the game open in the sixth inning as Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County) and Courtney Fudge (Pleasant Hill, IA/Des Moines East) delivered two-run doubles to propel the Tigers to victory.

Taylor Anderson (San Antonio, TX/Churchill), Fudge, and Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) all went 2-4 at the plate to lead the offensive attack for MCC.

In the second game of the day against Triton, MCC found itself in a 3-0 deficit after the top of the first inning. Wolfe got a run back in the bottom half of the frame. The Trojans went ahead 5-1 with two runs in the third, but the Tigers responded with four runs of their own. Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) put MCC ahead for good with a two-run home run in the sixth. Taylor held off Triton over the final two innings to preserve the win for the Tigers.
