Tigers stumble at home against Southeastern

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Softball team suffered a pair of losses to Southeastern Community College at home on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-4 and 7-5. Sophomores Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle), Tess Cheetham (Oceanside, CA/Oceanside) and Taylor Anderson (San Antonio, TX/Churchill) all had three-hit games for the Tigers.

Tied at three through six innings in game one, the Blackhawks scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from the Tigers. MCC found itself tied at three in the fourth inning of game two with Southeastern, but it was the Blackhawks once again that prevailed down the stretch to sweep the Tigers.

The two teams split the regular season four-game Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) series after the Tigers swept Southeastern in West Burlington, IA on April 10.

Ghee went 3-4 in the game one loss while freshman Courtney Fudge (Pleasant Hill, IA/Des Moines East) led off the first inning with a solo home run. Fudge added a hit in game two to extend her hitting streak to eight games and is batting .630 during the stretch.

Anderson drove in two runs on her three hits in game two while Cheetham collected her 11th multi-hit game of the season.

The Tigers are back in action at home tomorrow afternoon with an ICCAC doubleheader against Muscatine Community College. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
