Tiger bats stifled against DMACC

Boone, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Softball team dropped a pair of games to Des Moines Area Community College on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers fell in game one 17-0 and lost the second game of the twin-bill 8-0, both in five innings.

The Tigers struggled to put the ball in play against one of the top NJCAA Division II teams in the nation. MCC failed to record a hit in five innings in game one against DMACC starting pitcher Kenzie Ihle. MCC managed to get five hits in the nightcap.

Despite a pair of one-out singles in the top of the first inning from Kari Smith (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) and Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle), the Tigers failed to score a run. DMACC slowly built its lead and finished MCC off in five innings.

Smith finished the game with a pair of hits for the Tigers. Courtney Fudge (Pleasant Hill, IA/Des Moines East) and Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) added a base hit each.

Freshman Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) took the game one loss while Paige Taylor (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Terry Fox) suffered the defeat in game two.

MCC returns home to take on Southeast Community College at 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.
