Julian Pena named ICCAC Defensive Player of the Week

Prior to the start of Tuesday's game, freshman goalie Julian Pena (Muscatine, IA/Muscatine) was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Defensive Player of the Week. Pena led the Tigers to a 2-0 conference victory over Iowa Central on Saturday.

Pena stopped five shots against the Tritons en route to his third shutout of the season. The freshman had allowed just one goal in his last four appearances heading into Tuesday's match against Dakota County.

Pena becomes the first Tiger this season to earn weekly defensive honors from the conference. John Krause (Slater, IA/Ballard) and Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega) were both named ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week multiple times.

The Tigers fell to the Blue Knights in the first round of the Region XI Tournament on Tuesday afternoon, ending the Tigers season at 14-4-1.

Pena finished the 2013 season with a 12-4-1 record and 0.98 goals against average. The freshman stopped 46 shots on the year.
