Softball drops a pair at Winter Indoor Classic

Rosemount, MN—An early offensive outburst was not enough for the Marshalltown Community College softball team in the team's fourth game of the season as the Tigers fell to visiting AIB JV 12-4 at the Winter Indoor Classic in the Irish Sports Dome. The Tigers lost the opening game of the day 13-3 to North Iowa Area Community College.

Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) finished the day 3-5 at the plate with two doubles and provided stellar defense in right field.

In Friday's opener against the Trojans, Kari Smith (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) and Chezarae Garcia (Ogden, UT/Ogden) each went 1-2 with a run scored. Garcia added a triple in the night cap and Kortlan Ollinger (Robins, IA/Linn Mar) went 1-3 with an RBI against AIB JV.

Despite the early season struggles, head coach Suzy Scheef commended the newly structured team. "I thought we made positive strides each game this weekend."

The Tigers return to Rosemount on Feb. 19-20 for four games during the second weekend of the Winter Indoor Classic .
