Savanah Edwards signs to play softball at MCC

Savanah Edwards of Bettendorf High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Marshalltown Community College softball team for the 2015-2016 year.

Edwards selected MCC over an array of schools throughout the Midwest area. Edwards credited the size of the MCC campus, along with the dormitories and the softball coaching staff as deciding factors to commit to the Tiger program.

In 2014, Edwards appeared in 26 games for the Bulldogs and posted a .536 batting average and led all infielders in fielding percentage. Edwards scored 21 runs while driving in 23 more and struck out just four times in 69 at bats.

Alex Groeger, Director of Softball Operations at Choice Sports Training, commended Edwards on her hard work that led to her signing with MCC. "Without a doubt, Savanah will continue to be dedicated in any endeavor, excelling in all that she does. I am positive that Savanah will make the most of this excellent academic opportunity. She has a bright future in front of her and will be very difficult to replace in our program."

MCC assistant softball Rick Mitchell believes the Tigers are gaining a valuable player for the team. "Savanah will be a very nice asset to the MCC softball program."
