Tigers set to open conference play at home

The 2015 home portion of the Marshalltown Community College softball team's schedule opens up this week with eight consecutive Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) games at the Marshalltown Softball Complex.

The Tigers open the week with a doubleheader against Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM with game two set for 5:00 PM.. Wednesday's games mark the first conference contests as a NJCAA Division I Region XI member for MCC.

After an off-day on Thursday, MCC gets back into the swing of things with three straight doubleheaders. Friday will pair the Tigers with Indian Hills Community College at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. MCC will host Southeastern Community College at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM on Saturday and will close out the week with two games against Muscatine Community College at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.

Through the early portion of the schedule, freshman Lauren Wolfe (Miles City, MT/Custer County) leads the Tigers with a .327 batting average while Amanda Staudt (Charles City, IA/Charles City) is batting .308. Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) has hit a team-high four home runs for the Tigers.
