2015 NJCAA Region XI Division I Softball Tournament Bracket

The Marshalltown Community College softball team opens up play at the 2015 NJCAA Region XI Division I Tournament this weekend as the No. 5 seed. The Tigers take on No. 4 seed Southeastern Community College at 10:00 AM Friday morning in Muscatine, IA. in the opening round.

Indian Hills Community College earned the top seed in the upcoming tournament after posting a league-best 15-1 record on the year. Iowa Western Community College enters as the No. 2 seed with a 12-4 conference record and tournament host Muscatine Community College is the No. 3 seed with a 7-9 league mark.

Southeastern (14-32, 6-10) swept the season series from the Tigers, including a 14-10 contest at Marshalltown on March 28 that saw a late-game rally from MCC fall short.

2015 marks the first year the Tigers will play in the Region XI Division I Tournament after making the switch from Division II this year.

Kortlan Ollinger (Robins, IA/Linn Mar) has carried the MCC offense in 2015, including a torrent stretch over the last month. In the month of April, Ollinger has batted .472 at the plate to boost her season-average to a team-best .364 on the year. Ollinger closed out the regular season 10-14 at the dish with three home runs and three doubles in the final four games.

Amanda Staudt (Charles City, IA/Charles City) has upped her batting average to .325 with a strong month of April as well. Sarah Ghee (Carlisle, IA/Carlisle) is batting .307 on the year with 24 RBI.

The Blackhawks are led by Jennifer Santa Cruz, batting a team-high .427 on the year with six home runs and 29 runs scored. The Southeastern pitching staff is allowing 7.39 runs per game on the year.

The winner of Friday morning's game moves on to face top-seed Indian Hills at 2:00 PM in the double-elimination tournament. The losing team will face the loser of Iowa Western and Muscatine at 4:00 PM.
