Keokuk, IA—Sophomores Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) and Jamerka Martin (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) combined to score 40 points on Saturday as the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team defeated Jefferson College 61-52 on the final day of the Turkey Classic at Southeastern Community College.

Howe went for a season-high 24 points to lead the Tigers as the guard knocked down 11-12 free throws on the day. Martin added 16 points as both players knocked down three three-point shots. As a team, MCC went 27-35 from the charity stripe, the team's most free throws since hitting 28 against William Penn on Nov. 17, 2010.

Courtney Williams-Perry grabbed 11 rebounds on the day, including eight on the defensive end. The sophomore has come on as of late and now leads the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with 9.8 rebounds per game on the year.

Despite a sluggish shooting percentage, the Tigers managed to hold the Vikings to 51 points, tied for the season-low from an MCC opponent. The Tigers held a 32-27 advantage at halftime, and outscored Jefferson 29-25 in the final frame to improve to 5-3 on the year. The Vikings have now lost four straight after starting the season 5-0.

MCC travels to Black Hawk-Moline College on Dec. 2 to take on the Braves at 6:00 PM.
