Tigers wrap up first semester with 72-61 win at Iowa Lakes

Estherville, IA—For the second consecutive game, Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) poured in at least 20 points to lead the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team to a 72-61 victory on the road at Iowa Lakes Community College Wednesday night. The Tigers finish the first half of the semester with a 9-5 record.

Howe scored a team-high 21 points for the Tigers to lead four players in double-figures. Jamerka Martin (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) scored 20 points while knocking down three three-point shots. Sammie Sproul (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) registered 13 points for her second-straight double-digit scoring effort. 

Courtney Williams-Perry (Milwaukee, WI/Bradley Tech) notched another double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on the night. 

As a team, the Tigers hit 16-22 free throws on the night, with all but one attempt coming in the second half. The Tigers led 30-24 at halftime before holding off the Lakers with a 42-37 advantage in the closing half.

The Tigers will enjoy a two week break before traveling to Des Moines Area Community College to take on the Bears on Jan. 3.
