Men's soccer slips to No. 15 in NJCAA poll

The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team dropped to No. 15 in the NJCAA Division I rankings after going 1-1 last week. The Tigers fell six spots from their No. 9 rankings in last week's poll.

MCC defeated Scott Community College 2-0 on the road on Wednesday afternoon behind a pair of goals from Thiago Fernandes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Dom Oton Mota). The Tigers suffered a 2-0 defeat to Iowa Central Community College on Saturday afternoon at home.

With the loss, the Tigers fell to 11-3-1 overall and 10-3-1 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play. MCC sits in second place in the ICCAC, 1.5 games behind Iowa Western Community College and 0.5 games ahead of third-place Iowa Lakes Community College with one week remaining in the regular season.

Iowa Western continued to sit at No. 3 in the NJCAA poll while Iowa Lakes received votes in the poll. Tyler Junior College (TX) remained at No. 1 while Monroe College (NY) held on to the No. 2 spot.

The Tigers have two regular season games remaining, both on the road, before the Region XI Tournament. MCC travels to Hawkeye Community College on Tuesday and Northeast Community College on Saturday.
