Sara Bisbe named ICCAC Player of the Week

Freshman Sara Bisbe (Barcelona, Spain/CV Saint Cugat) of the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Week. Bisbe helped lead the Tigers to a pair of wins last week.

Bisbe, an outside hitter averaged 15.5 kills per match throughout the week for the Tigers. MCC posted a 2-2 record that saw three of its matches go to five sets.

In the team's opening match of the week, Bisbe tallied 19 kills in a 3-0 win at Southwestern Community College. The freshman made just two hitting errors in 39 attempts for a season-best .436 hitting percentage.

After a loss to Indian Hills Community College on Wednesday night, Bisbe and the Tigers rebounded to go 1-1 at the NIACC Tournament on Saturday afternoon. In the opening match against tournament host North Iowa Area Community College Bisbe racked up 15 kills and 13 digs in a tough 3-2 loss to the Trojans.

The Tigers concluded the week with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Ellsworth Community College on Saturday thanks to a solid effort from Bisbe. The freshman posted 26 kills and a season-high 21 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.

Following a 3-2 victory on Monday night at Southeastern Community College, Bisbe now has nine double-doubles on the year and 11 double-digit kill matches.

Bisbe currently ranks ninth in the nation with 275 total kills on the year while her 3.72 kills per set rank second in the ICCAC.

Bisbe is the second volleyball netter to earn ICCAC weekly honors. Sophomore Jordan Carter was named player of the week on Sept. 21.

The Tigers head to Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday night for an ICCAC match at 7:00 PM.
