Season-best effort propels MCC to fourth-straight win

Oskaloosa, IA—Three different players totaled at least 10 kills to lead the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep at William Penn JV on Thursday night. The Tigers have now won four consecutive matches and six of their last seven.

Freshman Sara Bisbe (Barcelona, Spain/CV Saint Cugat) led MCC with 14 kills while DaNesha Cowley (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) added 12. Sophomore Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) recorded her third-straight match with double-digit kills, posting 10 finishers against the Statesmen.

During the team's four-game winning streak, Toledo has racked up 42 kills while boasting a .347 hitting percentage for the Tigers.

Sophomore Rieley Rodman (Ankeny, IA/Grand View Christian) filled in at the setter position for the third time in the last four matches and tallied 34 assists. Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) added two service aces and Nicole Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW) led MCC with 10 digs.

As a team, the Tigers totaled 44 kills with just nine errors on 95 attempts for a season-best .368 hitting percentage. MCC also added eight service aces in the victory.

After 11 straight matches on the road, the Tigers return home on Friday night to take on North Iowa Area Community College at 7:00 PM. Friday's match will be Sophomore Night for the Tigers where five sophomores- Carter, Cowley, Montgomery, Rodman, and Toledo will be recognized prior to the start of the contest.
