The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team has added another solid addition for the 2017 season, inking Celeste Barron-Nicoletti of Denver, CO to a National Letter of Intent.

A 5-7 libero out of Lakewood High School, Barron-Nicoletti becomes the seventh member to join the Tiger roster for the upcoming season. Barron-Nicoletti served as a team captain for Lakewood during her senior season in 2016.

"Celeste will come in and help our defense right away," stated MCC head coach Justin Hoskins. "With the addition of Celeste, this may be the best ball-control group that I've coached and she really adds to that element. We're looking at running three defensive specialists and she will compliment what we already have."

On her official visit to MCC, Barron-Nicoletti expressed her excitement for the new challenge that awaits. "I really liked the community at MCC, it feels like a family," Barron-Nicoletti mentioned. "I'm really excited for the new opportunity. Being so far away from home, I think it will be a good experience."

Barron-Nicoletti sees a team-first environment as a crucial element to success on the court. "I'm very confident in what I can bring to the program and being a team player is very important to me."

Hoskins added his thoughts on Barron-Nicoletti providing more than just an athletic addition to the program. "Celeste is a defensive-minded player and is very steady on the court. She doesn't get too high or too low with emotion. Being able to bring that positive energy is going to be a valuable asset for us next year."

Barron-Nicoletti intends to study journalism at MCC.
