Jesenia Colbert of Houston, TX has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team for the 2017 season.

An outside hitter, Colbert helped lead Cypress Falls High School to a 30-14 record during the 2016 season where the team finished as District Co-Champs. Colbert earned Academic All-District honors.

"Marshalltown seemed like a good fit and I wanted to be able to bring something to a program that is on the rise," Colbert stated following her signing. "I liked the smaller environment and family-oriented campus."

Colbert joins a series of future Tigers from across the country to sign for the 2017 season. Colbert sees the new home as a good place to start her college career. "It's going to be a change, not having my family be able to be there for every game, but I think it's a good change and I'm excited to be a part of it."

Colbert is also a member of Club Kaboom Volleyball.

Head coach Justin Hoskins continues to develop an athletically-focused class for next season, and Colbert fits the mold. "I am more of a leader by example," Colbert added. "I'm motivated and hard-working. I feel that the competitive level of a big Division I JUCO will be a good thing for me to progress my skills."

When discussing her thoughts for the upcoming season as a Tiger, Colbert had one thing in mind. "Let's make this a great season. I'm excited to get started."

Colbert intends to study psychology at MCC.
