All-Region XI Women's Basketball Teams

A trio of Marshalltown Community College women's basketball players have earned All-Region honors after leading the Tigers to an 18-12 record. Freshman Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) was named to the Second-Team All-Region XI squad while sophomores Ashley Salgado (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) and Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) were chosen to the third-team.

Howe carried the MCC offense throughout the year, leading the Tigers with 15.2 points per game, sixth-best in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Howe topped the league in free throw shooting with an 82.8 percent (72-87) mark and ranked second in the conference with a 39.4 percent three-point shooting clip, knocking down 61 triples on the year. The freshman scored at least 20 points seven different times on the year, including a career-high 32 against nationally ranked Iowa Central Community College.

Gott earned her second straight All-Region selection after she was named to the second-team as a freshman. Despite missing five games midway through the 2013-14 season, Gott contributed on both ends of the floor for the Tigers, averaging 13.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The sophomore ranked third in the league in total rebounds per game and fifth in the league in field goal percentage with a 49.5 mark. Gott reached double-figures 19 times on the season and recorded eight double-doubles.

Salgado provided a consistent effort throughout her career as a Tiger and extended her consecutive starts streak to 58 games, not missing a contest in the 2013-14 season. The primary ball-handler for the Tigers, Salgado led the ICCAC with 6.0 assists per game, 1.1 more than the next highest total in the league. Salgado also ranked in the top-ten in steals (8th), assist-to-turnover ratio (6th) and free throw percentage (7th).

The three players helped lead MCC to its most wins since 2010-11 under first-year head coach Steve Garber.
