Sophomore Ashley Salgado (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) has signed her National Letter of Intent to play women's basketball at Converse College, a NCAA Division II institution in Spartansburg, SC. Salgado played two seasons at Marshalltown Community College.

Salgado will lace up for Valkyries' head coach Kaye Waldrep in 2014. Converse is a member of the Conference Carolinas that features the likes of Limestone College, a team that advanced to the Division II Elite Eight in 2014.

Salgado finished her playing career at MCC with 58 consecutive starts and averaged 8.2 points per game. Salgado, who also played volleyball at MCC, led the Tigers in both assists and steals in each of her two seasons on the court.

The sophomore is a two-time member of the Academic All-Region First-Team and was also named to the All-Region XI Third-Team as a sophomore.

"I think I'll fit in really well with the program," Salgado stated. "I've had a chance to meet the team and the coaching staff and they're a great group overall. The whole environment of everything combined will be a nice fit for my final two years of my undergraduate career."

Salgado intends to study Early Childhood Education at Converse.
