Rusty Henio commits to national power Iowa Wesleyan

Former two-sport athlete Rusty Henio (Tama, IA/Pine Hill) has committed to play basketball at Iowa Wesleyan College. Henio, a member of the Marshalltown Community College volleyball and women's basketball teams in 2013-14, will continue her career as a Tiger in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

Henio contributed 4.0 points on 45.1 percent shooting from the floor during her sophomore season. Henio also grabbed 3.5 rebounds per game for MCC. For her career, Henio grabbed 130 rebounds and scored 127 points in 39 total games played. 

Head coach Steve Garber noted Henio's work ethic as a contributing factor to advancing on to the next level.

"Rusty worked hard as a leader and contributed significantly off the bench for us this past year," Garber stated. "She is a true testament to those that apply themselves with a confident attitude that can find another opportunity to excel, of which she will do at Iowa Wesleyan next season."

Iowa Wesleyan finished the 2013-14 season with a 23-4 record, and reached the second round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Conference National Tournament. The Tigers will move up to the NCAA Division III level in 2014-15.
