Norfolk, NE—JeAnn Hiraldo (Ames, IA/Ames) and Barbara Araoz (Neuquen, Argentina/Maria Auxiliadota) combined for 28 points, but the Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team fell to Northeast Community College 78-34 on the road in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play Saturday night.
Hiraldo connected on six three-point shots for 18 points on the night and Araoz added 10 points in the loss. Hiraldo pulled down seven rebounds while Araoz grabbed six rebounds and recorded four assists.
Victoria Pothast (Melbourne, IA/West Marshall) recorded a team-high eight rebounds to go along with five points. Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) came off the bench to grab six rebounds for the Tigers.
Despite the early struggles on Saturday, MCC was able to outscore the Hawks 14-11 in the final frame.
The Tigers return home for a 6:00 PM contest against Grand View JV on Feb. 16 as part of Sophomore Night at the Student Activity Center.
