Women's basketball lands Alyssa Roth of Northeast H.S.

Alyssa Roth of Northeast High School, located in Goose Lake, IA, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball program next season.

Roth, a 5-7 wing player, ranked third on the team with 9.1 points per game as a senior after appearing in all 22 games for the Rebels in 2015-16. Roth's 74 made field goals and 43 free throws made ranked second on the team. In her final season at Northeast, Roth proved to be a primary ball distributor for the Rebels, ranking second on the team with 68 assists while collecting 27 steals.

MCC head coach Steve Garber pointed to Roth's versatility on the floor as a main factor in the recruiting process. "Alyssa gives us flexibility to do many things on the floor," Garber stated. "Her competitive nature will provide the team with the work ethic that sets an example of higher standards to succeed."

Roth was one of the top players for the Rebels over the course of her career despite suffering a major setback in a car accident as a sophomore. Roth rebounded to help lead the Rebels to 24 wins over her final two seasons at Northeast. To read the full story on Roth's comeback, click HERE.
