Iowa Valley's Kavanh changes stripes, stays a Tiger

The Marshalltown Community College Women's Basketball team has inked its third signing of the offseason as Sarah Kavanh of Iowa Valley High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Tigers for the 2015-16 season.

Kavanh, who played three seasons for the orange and black Tigers, becomes the third signing for the blue and gold Tigers this offseason, joining Alyssa Roth of Northeast High School and Ryan Roberts of South Tama High School.

Kavanh, a 5-8 shooting guard, helped lead the Iowa Valley Tigers to a 17-5 record as a senior, scoring 9.8 points per game, good enough for second on the team. A three-point specialist, Kavanh knocked down a team-best 56 three-point shots which ranked eighth among all 1A players in the state of Iowa.

For her accomplishments as a senior, Kavanh was named to the 1A South Iowa Cedar League All-Conference First-Team.

"Sarah is a very nice addition to our exterior shooting game," MCC head coach Steve Garber noted. "Her shooting ability will help stretch the defense away from the basket. Her range is very good and her confidence to shoot the three will allow her to become consistent with her accuracy which in turn allows more penetrating opportunities for her teammates."
